Traditional Lime Plastering

Workshop Fee: $280.00

In this workshop students will learn the process of traditional lime plaster creation and repair using traditional materials. Lathe preparation, scratch coat with horse hair basecoat, straight edging and Darby work, plus lime top coat finish work will be covered. While we work together creating beautiful surfaces on one of Sanborn Mills Farm’s historic properties, we’ll talk about the history and science behind this beautiful product.

Skills and Techniques:

  • Plaster tool knowledge and understanding through use
  • How to prepare and apply the products needed.
  • How to care and maintain surfaces as they cure/set

 

Materials Fee: None

Special Tools or Equipment: No tools are required as all tools will be provided. If students have experience in the field and possess their own tools, please feel free to bring them along.
