The Pathfinder Oxford

Taught by: Molly Grant

Workshop Fee: $560.00

Experience the age old art of the Cordwainer craft.  This workshop begins with an introduction to the history of the Cordwainer Shop, founded in the 1925.  The Pathfinder oxford class uses the original tin patterns from the 1920’s.  From start to finish, the process is 100% hands on shoe work.  Students choose from an array of beautiful leathers and use many of the antique shoemaking tools that have been used by generations of Cordwainers.

Learning how to cut leather, lay the patterns, hand lace the uppers and sewing to uppers are all part of the traditional skills students will learn.  The final process of waxing and burnishing the sole side and inscribing their shoes with their own names will leave students proud and amazed at their unique footwear. Open to all skill levels but some hand strength is required since the entire shoe is laced by hand.

Materials Fee: $250 paid directly to the instructor.

Special Tools or Equipment: None. The instructor provides all tools.

Workshop Policies: Please be sure to read our 2025 policies before you register for a workshop which can be found here Workshop Policies
