Weft Twining a Small Vessel
Workshop Fee: $288.00
In this 2-day workshop, students will learn the basic techniques of weft twining, an ancient precursor to weaving with examples from cultures all over the world.
Simple and portable, weft twining requires minimal tools, and offers almost limitless design and patterning potential. We will look at both historic and contemporary examples of weft twining during the workshop. The instructor will provide all of the necessary tools and materials. At the end of the workshop, students will have a twining frame of their own to take home.
Skills and Techniques:
- Gain an introductory understanding of the technique of weft twining as it has been practiced in many cultures over time
- Prepare a twining frame for use, with a discussion of different twining styles and materials
- Create a twined vessel worked from the top down using the techniques we learn during the workshop
