Sculptural Candle Holders and Bud Vases: Women and Non-Binary Session

Get ready to play with wood, shape and design – beginners welcome!

In this hands-on class, you’ll create your own sculptural candle holders and bud vases while exploring what makes an object feel balanced, beautiful, and fun to use.

Students will experiment with the bandsaw, router, and a variety of hand tools to cut, shape, and refine your designs. Think of it as sketching in three dimensions – no two pieces need to be alike! You’ll learn techniques for safely and confidently shaping wood, all while exploring form, proportion, and personal style.

By the end of class, you’ll head home with new skills and some functional pieces – perfect for your table or as handmade gifts. Come explore a new way of thinking about woodworking as a form of creative play.

Materials Fee: $10 – $60 based on individual consumption. Paid directly to the instructor.

Special Tools or Equipment to bring: Bring your own scrap wood if you have, no extra tools are needed but feel free to bring any hand tools you may want to use (carving chisels, rasps, etc.), there will be finishes to experiment with but if you would like to treat the surface with something specific please bring (milk paint, wood finish, etc.)
