New England Porch Weave Chair

Taught by: Sue Muldoon

Workshop Fee: $288.00

Porch Rockers are iconic New England chairs! They are a favorite because they have one purpose…to relax. Often available at flea markets and on marketplace, you can rescue one yourself and enjoy it for years to come.

We will weave seats and backs of the rocker. Special instruction for backs of the chairs with a rounded slat will be included. You must have some hand strength and dexterity, as we will be flipping these large chairs a lot. We will weave with flat oval reed which will need to be sealed after it has dried. As a two day class, you may or may not complete the weaving depending on the size of the rocker, but you will have enough information to complete it at home.

Chairs should be ready to weave (sanded, painted, and structurally sound). Instructor will have some available for purchase from her inventory, but it would be a great project for you to refurbish one before you weave.

Materials Fee: Approximately $75 depending on the size of the chair paid directly to the instructor. Ready-to-weave chairs from Sue will range from $100-$150 depending on size, plus materials.

Special Tools or Equipment to bring: A ready to weave chair if you have one. Scissors or clippers of your choice
