Sawmill & Grist Mill Demo
Friday, August 1st, 11 AM
Watch as we bring 19th-century water-powered technology to life using restored historic equipment. The sawmill, built in 1829 by Theodore Farnum Elliot, features both a functioning Lane circular saw from 1891 and a replica of the original up and down sash saw, both powered by water from Sanborn Pond. The adjacent grist mill, constructed in 1830, showcases traditional grain processing using granite and French Buhr stones across four levels of original equipment. Please not that the Grist mill demonstrations are dependent on available water supply. These working mills highlight early New England ingenuity and Sanborn Mills Farm’s commitment to preserving traditional craft and engineering. Afterwards join us for a Farm to Table Lunch. Tickets for lunch must be purchased ahead of time.
Saving Seeds & Companion Planting Talk

Guided Trail Hike

Join us for a guided trail hike with Craig Mabie as we celebrate the ongoing work on our latest trail (a new and distinct trail from the guided hike earlier this season)! This scenic 1-mile loop offers a peaceful walk through the landscape: pond shore, forest, and field. Perfect for enjoying the fresh air and learning more about the natural beauty of the farm. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a relaxing stroll, we’d love to have you with us. Come explore, connect, and experience this new trail together!
