Twining Tiny Baskets and Making Cordage with Soft Fibers

Workshop Fee: $280.00

Each year in late summer or fall, the long green foliage of garden favorites like iris, daylily, crocosmia, and others starts to die back. Learn to turn this soft, abundant material into sweet, tiny baskets and cordage. Students can make several small baskets and develop confidence with harvesting, material preparation, twining, and design. All experience levels welcome.

Skills and Techniques:

  • Information on harvesting, drying, and re-hydrating fibers for weaving
  • Twining with soft material
  • Making cordage from a variety of fibers

 

Materials Fee: $15 paid directly to the instructor

Special Tools or Equipment: Basketry snips/ scissors
