Introduction to Fly Tying
Workshop Fee: $140.00
This workshop will introduce the student to the basic techniques of fly tying. We’ll do this by tying several flies from each of the basic categories of New England trout flies – nymphs, streamers, wet flies, and dry flies. We’ll do this by tying flies that are useful in lakes and rivers in New Hampshire, in sizes that can catch fish. We’ll practice the necessary knots, learn the necessary techniques, and understand how to choose and purchase materials. Students will learn how to rig their rods and present each type of fly. And we’ll probably tell a fishing story or two along the way.
Students will leave the class with a complement of flies that will allow them to address any trout fishing situation they come across – all with flies they’ve created themselves.
This workshop is for beginner-to-intermediate level students. Even if you’ve tied flies before, you’re bound to pick up a tip or two as we work our way through the four different styles of trout flies. Students will leave the class armed with the knowledge necessary to construct any type of fishing fly.
