3 Willow Trays in 3 Days

In this class, students will learn traditional willow weaving techniques while creating three different styles of trays. We will use a colorful selection of willows, willow bark, and plant materials cultivated at Sanborn Mills and Willowbrook Basket Farm. Students will also learn about the cultivation and processing of all the materials used in the class along with a trip to see the willow garden at Sanborn. Students will start with a Catalan Tension Tray and then advance to both traditional and contemporary Frame or Rib-style work. We will learn traditional weaving techniques and focus greatly on how to achieve beautiful shapes in your work. This class is suitable for all levels however strong hands are recommended for this type of work.
