News and Updates from Sanborn Mills Farm

Thanks for a remarkable season

As we wrap up another unforgettable season at Sanborn Mills Farm, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible community that makes this place thrive—our instructors, our students, our volunteers, and the many supporters who show up for us year after year.

This season brought extraordinary growth. Our registrar, Karen, shared that we checked in over 600 students, with nearly two-thirds visiting Sanborn Mills Farm for the very first time. Word is spreading about the work we do—and it’s all because of our dedicated community.

Again and again, we hear the same heartfelt themes: students who leave inspired, instructors who share their skills with generosity, grounds that are as beautiful as they are well cared for, workshop spaces that are spotless and welcoming, and—always a highlight—the unforgettable meals prepared by our kitchen team. Every part of the experience reflects the care and dedication of the people who make this place what it is.

This year also marked an exciting expansion of our community events program, bringing more people than ever into the heart of the farm. We offered our first-ever guided hikes on the new trail system, along with logging demonstrations, sawmill demonstrations, guided garden tours, and seed-saving talks. These events celebrated land-based learning and created meaningful opportunities for visitors to connect with our work. We also welcomed the community to fifteen farm-to-table lunches, an Open Farm Day, and a lively Fall Festival—each gathering a reflection of tradition, education, and hospitality.

As we enter our final workshop weekend of the season, we celebrate the classes that will close out this remarkable year: The Pathfinder Oxford, Advanced Blacksmithing Basics, Decorative Plaster and Mouldmaking, and Traditional Twisted Whip for Driving Oxen.

And the year isn’t over yet—our Winter Market returns on Saturday, December 6th, bringing handmade goods, community spirit, and winter cheer to campus.

To everyone who joined us this season—whether you taught, learned, volunteered, attended an event, or simply cheered us on—thank you. Your energy and support are the reason Sanborn Mills Farm continues to grow, inspire, and welcome new makers and community members from near and far.

Here’s to a truly extraordinary season, and to the many creative, community-filled years ahead.
