Inaugural Fibershed Round Table

at the Farm, May 20

Sanborn Mills Farm will host the Northern New England Fibershed’s inaugural Round Table Event this spring on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The event will include eight breakout sessions on topics such as animal health and fiber quality, the future of bast fibers in New England, supporting young fiber farmers/ sustaining local wool production, and so much more. A light breakfast and a farm-to-table lunch prepared by Chef Kelly Fahey is included in the cost of admission.

Other highlights include networking bingo and a raffle with prizes donated by local fiber farmers, artisans and businesses! Still a Few Spots Available in Our CSA — Veggies, Flowers, Bread!

Sanborn Mills Farm’s subscription Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program has a few slots till available for new subscribers. This year’s program comprises three separate CSAs: our traditional box of Farm-grown vegetables; a Farm-baked bread CSA; and a cut-flowers CSA with blooms from the Farm’s gardens.

To sign up, follow this link to the CSA page on the Farm’s website. Subscriptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you’re interested, don’t delay.

Note: We do not ship our CSA boxes. They are available for local pick-up only at the Farm in Loudon, N.H. See the CSA webpage for pick-up details.

Meet Our Instructors:

Sara Goodman

Sara is the lead dye studio instructor at Sanborn Mills Farm and was instrumental in the conception and creation of the Farm’s state-of-the-art teaching facility.

As a textile artist, she dyes, weaves, spins, stitches, and creates surface designs — in short, Sarah is a lover of all things with color and cloth. Her studio is in Center Harbor, N.H. on the shore of Squam Lake.

Nearly two decades ago, Sara decided to stop using chemical dyes and dedicated herself to using only natural dyes in her work. She felt the times demanded a closer examination of process and an effort to do whatever she could to work sustainably in terms of her methods and materials.

Sara will teach several workshops at the Farm this year, includingMordant Dyes on Cloth, May 4-7, focusing on proper fiber preparation on both plant and animal fibers (click on the link to register). To see a list of all of Sara’s 2023 workshops at the Farm,click here.
