Farm & Garden Workshops in 2026
This year’s Farm & Garden workshop lineup invites people of all interests and skill levels to engage deeply with the land—its plants, animals, and time-honored techniques. As a working farm and education center devoted to ecological stewardship and traditional practices, these workshops sit at the very heart of who we are.
Throughout the season, students explore a wide range of plant- and land-based skills. Workshops such as Vegetable Gardening Practices: From Seedling to Harvest, Botanical Perfume Blending, and Dried Floral Wreaths, emphasize biodiversity, seasonal awareness, and creative use of materials grown and foraged on the farm.
For those drawn to working with animals and agricultural tools, our draft animal workshops offer hands-on experience with oxen. Courses like Draft Animal: Oxen Basics and Farm & Garden teach students how to plow, cultivate, and lay out garden beds using draft power, connecting historic farming methods with practical, modern application.
The Farm & Garden series also extends beyond the garden gate to include outdoor traditions rooted in craft and place. Participants can learn to tie their own fishing flies in Introduction to Fly Tying or build a custom rod in Build a Basic Fly Rod, blending hand skills with an appreciation for local waterways and outdoor culture.
Whether you’re growing native plants, learning to work with oxen, tying flies, or designing with flowers, our Farm & Garden workshops offer an opportunity to build meaningful skills, deepen your connection to the land, and join a community of makers and stewards on a historic working farm.

Learn the essentials of working with oxen—from selection and training to yoking and driving—in this hands-on, two-day farm workshop.
