News and Updates from Sanborn Mills Farm
2024 Year in Review!
Sanborn Mills Farm had a vibrant year in 2024, marked by community engagement, craft education, and preservation of traditional farming practices. In April we welcomed visitors to explore the farm during seasonal open hours from Wednesday to Saturday, 10 AM to 3 PM. This accessibility allowed the public to engage with the farm’s landscape, explore the historic buildings and learn about its agricultural practices.
On the farm, we celebrated the arrival of over a dozen lambs, adding to our flock of sheep that supplies wool for workshops and meat for our kitchen. Alongside the sheep, our farm staff raised beef cattle, pigs, and chickens, ensuring a steady supply of farm-fresh ingredients for our students and events. The farm’s CSA program ran for 22 weeks from June until the end of October, providing high-quality, locally grown produce to the community. This initiative reinforced the farm’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and community well-being.
In June we had our annual Open Farm Day where we welcomed the local community to explore the farm, its historic buildings and enjoy demonstrations of our saw and grist mills. We also held several other special events open to the public throughout the summer including binding and threshing demonstrations.
Our new Sunday Supper offerings complemented the popular Farm-to-Table lunches where community members could enjoy delicious meals prepared by Chef Kelly Fahey and Sous Chef Taylor Boden from farm fresh ingredients.
Our Farm to Table Dinner and Silent Auction had another successful year raising almost $9,000 for our scholarship fund. Fun was had by all who spent the night enjoying delicious farm to table food and wonderful music provided by Tanjo and Crow while bidding on lovely silent auction items donated by our craft instructors.
Our workshop program hosted over 475 students including day students and students who stayed in our beautiful on-site accommodations in the Fifield Hall Dormitory. Our kitchen team served over 2,500 meals to craft students and instructors this year while also preparing food for our community events like Open Farm Day, Fall Fest, and Winter Market.
The farm also hosted events for several local organizations, including UNH Cooperative Extension, New Hampshire Community Loan Fund, the New Hampshire Historical Society, 4-H Green Mountain Teamsters Group, and several garden clubs, strengthening our community ties.
As we reflect on this remarkable year, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our community and look forward to continuing the energy and enjoyment of craft education in 2025.

We are now hiring a Prep Cook/Dishwasher to join our dynamic kitchen team! Located in a serene and historic setting, our farm is dedicated to sustainable practices and creating memorable culinary experiences for our guests. More information can be found on our website.
