Announcing Our Community Events Calendar for the Season

We are excited to launch our Community Events Calendar for the upcoming season—a series of hands-on demonstrations, garden tours, and shared experiences that invite you to connect with the rhythms of farm life from spring through late fall. These gatherings are designed to bring our community together to learn, explore, and celebrate the work of the land in meaningful ways.

Each event is open to the public and begins at 11:00 am, offering visitors the chance to see traditional skills in action and engage with the people who keep these practices alive. From the steady turning of the grist mill to the teamwork between farmers and draft animals in the field, these events highlight the uniqueness of Sanborn Mills.

Visitors can stroll through ornamental plantings, explore the peaceful streamside garden, and visit our natural dye garden, where we grow the plants used in our natural dye workshops. These tours offer inspiration for gardeners and a deeper appreciation for how plants support both creativity and daily life on the farm.

Throughout the summer and fall, our working landscape comes alive with demonstrations of traditional agricultural practices. Watch oxen cultivate fields, see grain harvested and prepared using historic methods, and witness the power of water as it drives our up-and-down sawmill.

A highlight of each gathering is the opportunity to share a meal. Farm-to-table lunches begin at 12:00 pm and require advanced registration. These meals feature locally raised meats and seasonal produce grown right here on the farm, offering guests a chance to taste the harvest and experience the connection between the land and the food on their plate.

Our season concludes with a special Community Thanksgiving on the Farm, a celebration of the bounty of the year and the connections that make our community strong. It is a time to honor the farmers, gardeners, animals, and neighbors who contribute to the life of the farm and to give thanks for the abundance we share.

We invite you to join us for one event or many throughout the season. Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, and come ready to learn, experience, and enjoy the traditions that keep our agricultural heritage alive.
