2026 Workshop Season Now Live!
The 2026 workshop season has officially launched, bringing an inspiring lineup of hands-on learning opportunities. Each workshop invites participants to slow down, work with natural materials, and create something lasting—whether that’s forged iron, woven willow, handmade paper, or a beautifully crafted wooden piece.
This year’s offerings span blacksmithing, woodworking, fiber arts, heritage craft and basketry, farm and garden, and more, led by skilled instructors dedicated to keeping craft alive. Returning favorites include blacksmithing basics with longtime instructor Garry Kalajian, Sandra Kehoe and Jes Clark’s popular willow basketry workshops, and Owain Harris’s immersive woodworking courses.
We’re also excited to welcome several new instructors whose practices add fresh depth and variety to the 2026 lineup. Woodworker Andy Glenn joins us with his Build a Stick Chair workshop, offering students a chance to create an elegant, timeless chair using traditional hand-tool techniques. In the fiber arts studio, quilt artist Heidi Parkes brings her Whole Cloth Hand Appliqué workshop, guiding participants through expressive, slow-stitch techniques that emphasize texture, storytelling, and individual artistic voice. And in the world of basketry, Maria Bullock expands our willow offerings with her Willow Tote and Willow Backpack workshops, where students weave functional, beautifully structured pieces from start to finish.
Workshops range from beginner-friendly introductions to multi-day sessions designed for more seasoned makers. And to ensure these opportunities remain accessible, Sanborn Mills continues its commitment to offering scholarships that provide full or partial support, including assistance with tuition, housing, and meals when needed. Our goal is to make traditional craft education available to anyone with the curiosity and passion to learn—regardless of financial barriers.
As we celebrate the launch of the 2026 season, we invite everyone to reconnect with the joy of making by hand and the traditions that continue to shape the crafts we love. We’re excited to see everyone at our annual Winter Market on Saturday, where instructor demos, handmade crafts, and warm soups and sandwiches from our kitchen come together with festive music and holiday cheer.
A Few Spots Left for 1 PM Make a Wreath
We still have a few spots for the 1 PM Make a Wreath at Winter Market. Each student receives a 14” wreath frame, piles of fresh greens, decorative items, and a ribbon to create a beautiful, custom piece to take home.
