Come learn the art and practice of vegetable growing from Sanborn Mills Farm’s own team of professional growers. This hands-on workshop is geared for beginners as well as more experienced home gardeners. You will learn the farm’s best practices for the most popular home crops.
From small plots to large fields, staff will walk you through organic home production techniques including pest and disease identification and control, beneficial companion plant pairings, seed saving processes, pruning methods and harvesting.
Skills and Techniques:
- Learn growing practices for a number of different types of vegetables (tomatoes/peppers, brassicas, allium, cucurbits and root crops.)
- Companion planting with flowers and herbs for growth, pest and disease management, soil health, moisture retention and pollinator attraction.
- Seed saving methods for acclimation of varieties to our environment, choosing the best attributes you would like to see from year to year and boosting the overall health and production of your home garden.

Special Tools or Equipment to bring: This workshop is an outdoor and hands-on experience, so dress for the predicted weather. Gardening gloves, pruners, a refillable water bottle, notebook and pen are recommended.
