Andy Glenn

Andy Glenn is a furniture maker, instructor, and author based in Waldoboro, Maine. His first book, Backwoods Chairmakers: In Search of the Appalachian Chairmaker, was released in early 2024 by Lost Art Press. Within Maine, the book may be available at Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, Shelter Institute, or Village Handcraft in Wiscasset, or can be purchased directly from Lost Art Press.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the College of Wooster in 2004 and completed the Cabinet and Furniture Making Program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston between 2006 and 2008.

From 2008 to 2013, he worked in a furniture repair shop in Boston, creating custom pieces and teaching woodworking. Between 2013 and 2017, he spent time in Rockport, Maine, working in a boatyard, a cabinet shop, and producing custom work. He then served as Head of Woodcraft at Berea College in Kentucky from 2017 to 2021 and as Head of The Woodworking School at Pine Croft from 2019 to 2023.

Since 2021, he has been self-employed in Waldoboro, building chairs, custom furniture, and fine craft, while continuing to teach and share his expertise with others.
