Paper, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture artist Dayna Talbot believes art can be a healing force. “Just as we mend relationships and heal physical scars, I use fibers to stitch paintings, prints, and make sculptures and paper,” she says. “My intent is to engage the viewer with the materials, as well as to create a narrative within the visual aesthetics.” Her workshop, “Sculptural Wet Felted Vessels,” is scheduled for May 18 and 19 at the Farm.

In Boston, Susana McDonnell owns LinoCave, a home studio focused on geometric pattern design and block-printing on fabric and paper. She has also worked in diverse mediums, from glassblowing to watercolors. She is the co-host of @printersolstice, a prompt-based printmaking campaign on Instagram that inspires printmakers around the world to create on the winter solstice. Her workshop, “Fabric Block Printing and Pattern Design: A Deep Dive,” is scheduled for May 31 through June 4.

Pam Bartlett first began rug hooking in 1982. As a certified rug hooking teacher with the Pearl K. McGown Rug Hooking Guild, Pam has been teaching at rug schools and workshops in the US and Canada since 1994. In 2014 she opened the Woolen Pear and Red Horse Rug Designs, a unique fiber arts studio specializing in hand hooked rugs, supplies, classes and workshops for rug hooking, braiding and fiber arts. Her two-day workshop “Rug Hooking”is scheduled for June 3 and 4.

The Sanborn Mills Farm Scholarship Program

To help make our workshops more accessible to all, Sanborn Mills Farm is now offering financial scholarships for workshop attendance, housing, and meals. Full and partial scholarships will be awarded on the basis of financial need of the applicant and their commitment to the mission, vision, and values at Sanborn Mills Farm. Scholarships provide access to our highly regarded multi-day workshops and engaging residential experience when registration and/or lodging fees are out of reach of prospective attendees, especially when combined with the cost of transportation and being away from home/work lives.

Supporting first-time workshop attendees and applicants to the draft animals’ workshops are priorities in 2023.
