Viking Seax

Taught by: Emiliano Carrillo

Workshop Fee: $495.00

In this three-day class we will craft a historically accurate Viking seax based on the study of artifacts. Seaxes were ubiquitous knives found during the Viking age and we will focus on using modern methods of manufacture to create authentic seaxes. Students will begin with a raw bar of steel which we will forge by hand into a blade. We will then grind and harden the blades before creating handles for them using a mixture of locally sourced wood and buffalo horn. Students will leave with a 4”-6” bladed seax that will be able to accompany them into the woods or the kitchen alike.

Students will benefit from previous experience, but beginners are welcome!
