Hand Forged Steel Cookware Set

Workshop Fee: $495.00

In this 3 day workshop, we will begin by working through simple hand forging techniques to create cooking utensils with an emphasis on clean thought design and process, while exploring both two piece riveted construction and single piece forgings. We will then move on to complete the cooking set with a hand forged skillet. The created cooking set will be functional and decorative to last for a life time of use. Some experience with working a coal forge and basic forging is recommended but not required.

  • Sheet metal forming
  • Riveting
  • Food safe metal finishes
  • Material isolations
  • Hole punching
  • Basic Forging techniques
  • Use of dishing swages and anvil stakes

 

 Materials Fee: $15 – $20 for sheet metal paid directly to the instructor at the time of workshop.

Special Tools or Equipment: The farm makes available to students eye and ear protection, gloves, and aprons. Comfortable closed toed shoes and street clothes are recommended. If you have forge tools you like working with you are welcome to bring them.
